Burnt contactor — replace or find the cause

A photo shows a contactor with discoloured terminals. Replacing it is easy; the question is why it burnt.

What the agent does

  1. Identify the contactor and its circuit from the schematic
  2. List the upstream causes the manual gives for terminal overheating (loose termination, undersized conductor, chattering coil, overload)
  3. Order the checks so the cause is found before the replacement is energised

What you get back

Checklist: replace, then verify termination torque, measure coil voltage under load, inspect conductor rating — with the schematic page cited.
