Why work orders say 'fixed'
Because the technician wrote it in the van at 6 pm. The result is a decade of work orders nobody can learn from and warranty claims that bounce for lack of documented diagnosis.
The draft
Everything the session established — unit identification, alarms read, photos, checks performed and their results, measurements, parts fitted with numbers, bulletins applied — is written into a work-order summary with the manual references inline. The technician edits what is wrong and submits. It takes a minute, and the next technician on that unit can read it.
Warranty
OEM warranty processes require evidence that diagnosis preceded replacement. The summary is produced in the OEM's required format with the evidence attached, which is also why dealers like it.
Learning loop
Structured summaries feed the resolution index. The twentieth technician to see a symptom gets the first nineteen's outcomes, cited by work-order number.
