Capability · Escalate

When the manual does not cover it, a person does — with the evidence assembled

No coverage means no checklist. The case goes to the named senior engineer for that product line with the symptom, what was checked, what the documents do and do not say, and the machine history. Recurring escalations become draft bulletins for the expert to approve.

The senior engineer's inbox

Today it is twenty phone calls, half of them the same question. The product does two things about that. First, questions the manual answers never reach them. Second, the questions that do arrive come as a package — symptom, evidence, what was checked, what the manual does not cover, machine history — so the call is five minutes, not twenty.

From answers to bulletins

When the same uncovered question is resolved by the expert several times, the agent drafts a bulletin from their recorded resolutions: symptom, root cause, procedure, source work orders. The expert edits and approves; from then on the answer is in the knowledge base with their name on it and the question stops escalating. Expertise leaves the phone and enters the documents before the expert retires.

Hard rules

  • A request to defeat an interlock, bypass a guard or skip an isolation step is refused with the manual's position cited and escalated. There is no setting to change this.
  • Hybrid units (field-upgraded subsystems) are flagged to a senior engineer by default.
  • Uncovered symptoms are never answered with a plausible guess.

Visibility

Escalations are logged by model, symptom, dealer and outcome — which is how the OEM learns where the manual is thin and where the network needs training.
